Redesigning a product as beloved and well known as our TDI Fightworthy Sheath was no small task. Known for its versatility, clean design, and tenacious retention, our sheath found its way on to the belts of many LEO’s and civilians alike, concealed behind mag pouches and radios, or under a t-shirt.
As with all of our revisions this year, it was our goal to find every opportunity for the processes advancements to not just improve the production speed and cosmetic appearance of the products, but to make meaningful functional improvements, as well.
The most significant improvements take place on the inside of the sheath. More precise molding has allowed us to make two critical changes. First is that we’ve accounted for the overall curve of the knife and have formed the sheath to allow for a smoother and more natural draw across a wider range of angles, making it easier to draw the knife against the direction of the curve or if the user has less than ideal access to the knife during a fight. This also allows for an easier and more natural draw when the sheath is worn horizontally. The second is the mechanism of retention. Previously, the tightness of the sheath was the result of the sheath material aggressively formed around some of the hard 90 degree angles of the steel blade. While this provided very robust security, it could also lead to some wear and tear on the sheath, as well as a frustrating experience for some users. With more precise molding and forming, we have overcome that by molding in specifically tuned internal features of the sheath to create crisp, predictable, and uniform retention without sacrificing security.
On the outside of the sheath, we’ve spaced out the eyelets, allowing users to install their choice of a single tuckable strut or tuckable clip to the taller column of eyelets, as a minimalist and ultra-concealable carry solution, in lieu of the two included softloops. On the opposite side, we’ve eliminated the top eyelet to increase clearance for gloved or larger hands.
Not only does each improvement respond directly to years of user feedback, but they contribute to substantial manufacturing time savings. As with all of our other product revisions this year, this means a real price decrease. The new TDI Fightworthy Sheath is ten dollars less than the previous version.
Combo comes with plain edge TDI
The Fightworthy Sheath features a tidy low profile, two polymer-coated nylon pull the dot IWB loops, bomb-proof construction, and increased retention and grip clearance compared to the stock TDI sheath. Available in black only and precision cut from .080 thickness Boltaron, the sheath is ambidextrous and can be configured and adjusted to your preferred method of carry. Position the belt loops to adjust cant angle, right or left handed carry, blade orientation, or remove the loops entirely to carry the TDI as a neck-knife, attached to other gear, or even worn on a key-chain. The possibilities are virtually endless.
